Cencora, a pharmaceutical company, claims that cybercriminals hacked into corporate IT systems.
Prior to becoming known as AmerisourceBergen, Cencora, a company specializing in pharmaceutical services, offers solutions for veterinarians ‘ offices, pharmacies, and animal healthcare.  ,
The business employs about 46, 000 people and generated$ 262.2 billion in revenue in fiscal year 2023.
Cencora disclosed in a Form 8-K filing with the SEC that a cyberattack led to data theft.
According to the SEC filing,” On February 21, 2024, Cencora, Inc. ( the” Company” ), information from its information systems had been allegedly strewn through, some of which may contain personal information.
According to Cencora, they were the ones who handled the incident and are now conducting an investigation with law enforcement, external cybersecurity experts, and external counsel.
The company immediately began an investigation with the assistance of law enforcement, cybersecurity experts, and external counsel after first finding out about the unauthorized activity.
According to Cencora, it’s not clear whether the incident will have a significant impact on their business or finances.
Cencora referred us to the statement in the SEC filing when BleepingComputer contacted them to find out more about the incident.
However, they confirmed that their cyberattack is unrelated to the ransomware attack by Optum Change Healthcare, which has caused significant pharmaceutical billing outages.
According to a statement from Cencora,” We have no reason to believe there is a connection between the incident at Change and the unauthorized activity at Cencora.”
No further details have been released about who hacked into Cencora, and no ransomware gangs have assumed responsibility at this time.
In February of this year, a ransomware group known as Lorenz previously claimed to have breached Cencora  while the business was still known as AmerisourceBergen, claiming to have allegedly hacked into data from the Animal Health division.
