A group of ten people are standing behind a table covered with wrapped gifts and rolls of wrapping paper in an office with fluorescent lighting and large windows. Smiling and holding additional wrapped presents, they look like they're discussing something important—perhaps a new VPN for improving cybersecurity.

Giving Season at Sophos

Let’s look at some of the fantastic projects that have been happening from Canada to the Philippines.

Canada

Before gathering in the Vancouver office to wrap the toys, the team donated toys and non-perishable food items during the month of November.

The Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau, which helps low-income families by giving them the chance to choose presents for each of their children, who are 18 and under, so they can have a joyous holiday season, received them after that.

Food items were given to Food Banks BC, which provides food to people in British Columbia who are constantly in need of food. &nbsp,

Germany

The group provided support for two charitable endeavors in Weisbaden, Germany. First, Die Tafel Wiesbaden, who help people in need by making sure they have enough to eat during the holiday season, received a sizable donation of food and hygiene supplies.

In the second project, the team gathered children’s book donations, packaged them, and delivered them to the Klarenthal Parent-Child Center. The team wanted to encourage reading and help make sure that underprivileged kids also get a Christmas present.

Ireland

The team volunteered at the PACE meals on wheels service in Cork, Ireland, which allows elderly people to stay in the community or go home after being hospitalized.

The team started working at 9 a.m., cooking vegetables, meat, and dessert before packing the meals and delivering them to 32 people in the neighborhood.

Philippines

The Upskills + Foundation, a local organization that offers livelihood programs, education, vocational and college scholarships, and welfare support to locals, was supported by the Sophos Team in Manila.

The team offered to give out Christmas food baskets filled with rice, groceries, and snacks to senior citizens. Additionally, they attended a seminar on reproductive health hosted by the foundation and distributed hygiene kits to women in their teens that contained sanitary pads, vitamins, and toiletries.

The team donated new and used clothing, shoes, bags, and toys for a “market day,” which they then organized into racks for the locals to select up to five items from.

The UK

The UK team participated in Save the Children UK‘s annual Christmas Jumper Day, raising more than £1, 400 ( US$ 1, 770 ) in the process.

Some of the site leaders in Abingdon “volunteered” to have cream pies thrown at them in support of this noble cause, and the team donated to wear Christmas jumpers and sell homemade cakes.

Additionally, the team prepared Christmas Eve gift boxes for the neighborhood organization Be Free Young Carers, which will be given out to children in the Abingdon and greater Oxfordshire region.

Seven bags of trash were gathered from the local environment as part of another volunteer activity, a litter pick near the Abingdon office.

With over 160 days donated in 2023, the total number of volunteer hours committed across the UK and Ireland teams has increased by 43 % from last year. &nbsp,

the United States

The team in Dallas organized three campaigns: gathering school supplies, gathering gently used work clothing for adults re-building their lives, and supporting the Angel Tree Adopt a Child toy drive.

The team provided school supplies to children in need so they could start the new school year fully prepared by working with Community Partners of Dallas.

The team also worked to gather clothing for those who were trying to rebuild their lives by dressing professionally. The office collaborated with two non-profit organizations: One Man’s Treasure, which focuses on helping recently released men from Texas prisons, and Dress for Success, who helps women become economically independent through a network of support and offers professional clothing and development tools.

Finally, as part of The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Program, which offers Christmas presents for kids in need, the team gathered clothing and toys for 30 kids. &nbsp,
