In the arctic temperatures, sailors and marines maintain their composure.

As part of their cold weather training for the Nordic Response, a NATO exercise, sailors and marines constructed shelters, built fires and trekked through Arctic terrain in Setermoen, Norway.

For the exercise’s land component in March, about 10,000 participants from more than a dozen nations will be joined by U.S. troops. The exercise’s goal is to improve military readiness and allied cooperation during intense combat in a difficult Arctic environment.

Nordic Response will evaluate the interoperability of various&nbsp, military endeavors, command and control, combined joint operations, and defense against an enemy force.
